If you put this exact question into Google a few things are going to appear at the top of the search results. Starting with the following:
1. Elon Musk is currently ranked number one on the list. Maybe no surprise to some, but there may be many who have not even heard of him. Granted, where people live in the world and what access they have to information will in no doubt play a part in what, and who they know, but the answer to this question for most will be common knowledge.
2. The top 10 richest people in the world are all male, which is a significant observation that is clear for all to see. If you are an aspiring female entrepreneur though, that would love a piece of the "Top 10" pie, it will certainly be a great achievement that I'm sure would be championed worldwide.
3. 9 out of 10 of the current richest people in the world reside in the US. Is this merely a coincidence or is there a very specific reason or reasons why this is so? I question if mindset had anything to do with it and the infamous quest for the American dream.
4. Tech is top of the list in regards to how these individuals made their money, followed by fashion, online retail, more tech - software and hardware, investment, social media and concludes with yet more tech - software. Clearly tech is a serious money maker, which is why the attraction to create the 'Next Big Thing' is very prevalent. What could you invent that could literally be world changing?
5. 9 out of 10 of the top billionaires in the world are self-made. That clearly shows that the accumulation of wealth is not based on familial foundations but on the individuals in question, hence dismissing the common misconception that the richest people in the world are "born into money". It also proves that we all have the potential to achieve what we put our minds to and it is more than just "luck".
Can "riches" just be based on financial wealth or are there other markers that should be taken into consideration. There are some who have very little but feel "rich" because of their quality of life. They tend to be individuals who give of themselves to whatever worthy cause they feel called to. Is there a top 10 list which includes them? What would it be called? Maybe "The 10 most charitable people in the world"? Google it and see...
